Biography

George Newton was born in the Colony of Victoria (1851-1900)

George was was born in Sandhurst, in the Victorian (Australia) goldfields, in 1873.[1] He was the son of Joseph Newton and Mary Redden. Please note: the Sandhurst of 1873 is NOT the Sandhurst on modern maps. From 1863 until 1891 the official name for what is now Bendigo was City of Sandhurst, County of Bendigo. After 1891 Sandhurst reverted to its previous name of Bendigo.[2]

George Newton passed away in Bendigo, Victoria, in 1904, aged 31 years (death registration claims 28 years).[3]
