Biography
Birth
Patricia Veronica Nicholas was born 16 March 1907 in Kumara, West Coast, New Zealand. She was the daughter of Matthew Ryan Nicholas (1856–1933) and Catherine Monahan (1861–1948).

Education
Patricia attended School in Kumara and at age 13 and passed the Proficiency examination in December 1920.

Marriage
In 1931, Patricia (Pat) Veronica Lakin married William George Lakin (born on March 1, 1906; son of John George Lakin and Miriana Veronica Max). [3]
They had three children, Patricia (Pat), Eileen (Eily) and Anthony (Tony). At some time after 1945, the family moved from the Kumara area to Hokitika and lived in Jollie Street.
Death
Pat became ill with cancer and died 14 October 14, 1994 in Greymouth, West Coast, aged 87.

Burial
Patricia (Pat) Veronica (Nicholas) Lakin was buried in the Hokitika Cemetery
Block U, Plot 48 where her husband, Bill, age 82, had been buried in 1988.
