Research notes

The date of birth of William Meade's daughter Joan - 1568 - makes it impossible that she married John Topping in the same year. There are two possibilities. Either William's widow, also named Joan, maiden name Nicholas, married John Topping soon after the death of her husband. Or it was William Meade's niece, Joan, the daughter of his deceased brother John. William's will mentions John's two children, Benedict & Johan.

According to the parish records of Wing, Joan the daughter of William and Joan Meade was baptised 6 Jan 1568. Her father, William MEAD, householder, made his will 30 June 1568 and was buried 2 July 1568. And Joan Meade married John Topping 1 Nov 1568. The most like explanation is that a young widow with small children remarried quickly.

Meade-772 and Nicholas-2037 appear to represent the same person because: These profiles are clearly meant to represent the same person. There are uncertainties about whether Meade or Nicholas was her last name at birth, and associated with this are uncertainties about her birth date, which accounts for the differences. There are research notes about this on both profiles. Rather than retain 2 separate profiles, it seems better to merge them, and edit the research notes to explain the uncertainties a bit more fully. I suggest using the LNAB Nicholas for the merged profile, but wit discussion in the bio or the edited research note.

There is a duplicate profile at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Nicholas-2037. Research notes on both profiles set out uncertainties in a self-explanatory way.

Topping-249 and Nicholas-2037 do not represent the same person because: Different genres. They were husband and wife. There are duplicate profiles for the wife and I am proposing a merge.
