Frances Jane Nicholas was was born in Orange, New South Wales; her birth was registered in Lithgow, New South Wales, Australia in 1880; her parents recorded as Edward and Mary Ann.
William Mackie and Frances Jane were married on the 11th April 1902, their marriage registered in Wellington. He is recorded as 26 years old born in Waimate; a labourer living in Wellington. His father is recorded as James Mackie, a tailor. His mother is recorded as Jessie Mackie neé Morrison. Frances Jane Nicholas was 24 years old, born in Orange; a domestic servant living in Wellington. Her parents are recorded as Edward Nicholas (a labourer) and Mary Ann Nicholas neé Hicks. Witnesses to their marriage were Eva Phillips, wife of Frank Godfrey Phillips a railway porter in Wellington. (Eva is William Mackie's sister) [1]
