John and his wife Frances arrived in NZ in 1841 aboard the sailing ship The Lady Nugent. They had left Bath in England looking for a new life with their then 4 children William, Lucy, John and Henry. They had 4 more children born in Wellington where they pioneered for all their lives. John and his dear wife passed away on the same day on 25th February 1904, he was 96 and Frances {nee Nicholas} was 94. Both are buried at the Boulton St Cemetery.
