Biography
Alexander was born about 1750. He passed away before 1790, probably in Iredell County, North Carolina.[1]
Research Notes
Alexander Nichols is depicted on the 1773 map of Rowan County (became Iredell County in 1778). He was old enough to be a member of the Congregation in 1773. He is the only Nichols in the Congregation. He does not appear in the 1790 Census of Iredell County, North Carolina. The following Nichols are listed in the 1790 Census as Heads of Household in Iredell County:
Jacob Nichols, 3 white males over 15, 4 white females, 12 slaves
John Nichols, 1 white male over 15, 1 white male under 15, 1 white female, 0 slaves
Joseph Nichols, 2 white males over 15, 3 white males under 15, 2 white females, 1 slave
Joshua Nichols, 1 white male over 15, 1 white female, 1 slave
