Israel was baptized in Hingham Sept. 1, 1650. He was the son of Thomas and Rebecca Nichols.[1]
He was married three times, although the names of his first two wives only appear in his will.
He married first Sept. 26, 1679[1] to Mary Bond. She died in Hingham, 26 March, 1688.
For his second wife he married his cousin Mary Sumner. She died 27 Feb. 1723-24. [1]
In June 24, 1725, being then nearly 75 years old, he took for his third wife Mrs. Rebecca (Lincoln) Clark, widow of John Clark, and daughter of Samuel and Martha Lincoln. She was born in Hingham March 11, 1673-74, and died 4 Feb. 1757. [1]
Israel died 24 Jan. 1733-34. In his will, made Jan. 1, 1733-34, proved 21 Feb. following, he bequeaths to eldest son Nathaniel; to sons Jazaniah and Roger, and to son Israel, land at Lancaster, purchased of Aaron Hobart; also to daughter(s) and grandchildren, naming them; directs that the child of "my first wife build a monument over her grave, and that the executors of this will erect one over mine." Estimated appraised 14 March, 1733-34, at £249, which included £200, in cash. In 1727 a large part of his real estate was purchased by his four sons.

He lived on "Green Hill," and on Jerusalem Road in Hingham.[1] He is buried at Cohasset Central Cemetery.[2]
