Lee Angela Welch, of Magee, MS, departed this life on Friday, December 5, 2014. Angie was born to Hershel and Georgie Nichols of Magee on January 29, 1957.
Angie is a graduate of Magee High School where she was involved in many activities and loved by her classmates. She is a lifelong member of Goodwater Baptist Church where she served the Lord. Her heart’s desire was to teach children about the love of Christ. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Danny Welch, on June 14, 1975. After graduating high school she began working for State Guaranty Bank and continued there until she started her family. She stayed home to raise her four girls until they began school. Angie later began working for her husband in his law practice as his legal secretary. She worked by her husband’s side for over twenty years. She enjoyed spending her time helping to raise her nine grandchildren, who affectionately called her “MawLee”. Angie was known for her generosity in serving others, including her church family. She touched many lives through her unselfish love for her family, church and community. She was always willing to give of her time and energy to help and share with others. Her life exemplified the attributes of the Proverbs 31 woman.
Angie is survived by her husband, Danny Welch, and her four daughters, DeShea Walker (Marney), Dana Duncan (Brett), Deidra Baldwin (Zach), and Dollie Tutor (Tyson); her mother, Georgie Nichols; brother, Al Nichols (Julie); sister, Patti Martin (Billy); her mother-in-law, Frances Welch; nine grandchildren – Kade, Kolt and Lucy Walker; Braden, Mallory and Maggie Duncan; Braxton, Barrett and Banks Baldwin. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Hershel Nichols; brother, Paul Nichols; and father-in-law, Dick Welch.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2014 from 2-5 pm at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee. A short visitation will also be held on Monday, December 8, 2014 from 10-11 am at Goodwater Baptist Church in Magee with a funeral service to follow at 11 am. She will be laid to rest at Goodwater Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Goodwater Baptist Church Building Fund.[2]
