Biography

Cletus V. Nichols was born in Georgia in 1914, the son of Tilman Nichols and Addie Metcalf. He married Marjorie Buice. They had two sons, Kenneth and Ronnie. Cletus died in 1991 in Georgia.[1]

In 1920, the Nichols family lived in Dawsonville, Dawson, Georgia. They owned their farm. The family included Tilman M. Nichols, 44, a farmer; his wife Addie, 42; their children, Lonie, 17, a farm laborer; Conie, 15, farm laborer; Levie, 13; May, 11; Marchie, 9; Iler, 7; Cletus, 5; and Vanace, 2. None of the children were in school. All were born in Georgia. Living nearby was their son, Granville, 24, a farmer, and his wife.[2]

In 1930, the Nichols family lived on their rented farm on Creighton Road in Waleska, Cherokee, Georgia. The household included T.M. Nichols, 55, a farmer, and not a military veteran; his wife, Ada, 54; their children, Eva, 23; Marge, 18; Jen, 16; Cletus, 14; and Vanice, 12; and grandchildren, Elco, 10; Osco, 8; Leona, 6; and Carrell, 2. All members of the household were born Georgia.[3]

He died, aged 77, on 22 January 1991 in Dawson, Georgia.[4] Cletus is buried with his wife, two sons, and his parents at Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery, Dawson County, Georgia.[5]
