Bradley's obit tells us that he headed the company, Bradley Nichols & Sons. He was known as the shrewdest real estate dealer in the city and did more to open up undeveloped tracts of land than anyone else with the exception of P. T. Barnum. Also known as the richest preson with the name of Nichols in Bridgeport. He married Sarah L. Pardee, sister of former Judge Henry E. Pardee of New Haven. They'd had 2 sons before removing to Bridgeport.
Bradley Nichols enlisted in the Union army during the Civil Ward as a private on Sept. 25, 1863 and served Co. D, Unit 14 of the CT Infantry. He was discharged as a private. He was a Republican was a representative to the General Assembly from Stratford, Ct. He attended St. John's Episcopal Church.
