-Old Town of Stratford -p.714 -In the summer of 1818 Barak T. Nichols, native of Greenfield, engaged as an appentice to Fairchild, Lyon and Co., doing chores in the old store now standing just below the south line of Wall Street. Mr. Nichols, while in his prime, just before the late war, filled a large place in the saddlery business in Augusta, Georgia and at Newark, N.J. He is still living in North Bridgeport. p.722 - states that he reached the age of 21 in 1823 - Barak T. Nichols was a member of the Smith and Wright House in Augusta, Ga and Newark, NJ. He purchased the interest of Edwin Van Antwerpt, 1st in Augusta and then in Newark and became the head of the firm there. --Three children b. in Georgia - Barak must have migrated to Georgia and was with his bro., George before 1850.
