Bazdel was born about 1730 based on the marriage of his daughter Easter/Esther in 1784 with consent. He is listed in Bedford VA PP tax lists from 1782 through 1805.

He married 1st Margery (Gilbert) Nichols (abt.1736-) about 1760 at St John's Parish, Prince George, Maryland.^{[citation needed]} Children:

Beginning 28 August 1818, John Nichols vs Mordicia Morgan, Gilbert Nichols, [Estate of] Bazdell Nichols, Chancery Court, Bedford County, Virginia. John Nichols, son and only heir of Nehemiah and grandson of Bazdel Nichols, made claim to property previously owned by his father Nehemiah Nichols and possessed by Bazdel Nichols until his death at which time it was further possessed by Mordecai Morgan (spouse of Elizabeth D Nichols, and Gilbert Nichols as administrators of Bazdel Nichols estate. The case continued thru 1820 and is apparently closed in 1824.^[2] The following are named throughout the case:
