Joseph Nicholson was born on December 28, 1734 in Pasquotank County, North Carolina.^[1] His parents were Thomas Nicholson and Mary Hill.^[2]

Joseph married Mehitabel Nixon on June 4, 1755 in Pasquotank County, North Carolina.^[3]

Joseph and Mehitabel had the following children:

Zachariah b. 4-13-1756^[4]
Carolina b. 10-8-1757^[4]
Elizabeth b. 1-9-1760 d. 11-8-1767^[4]
Miriam b. 2-24-1762^[4]

Joseph married (2nd) Rebekah Symons (widow of John Low) on June 23, 1771 at Symons Creek MH, Pasquotank County, North Carolina.^[4] They had the following child:

Mary b. 4-15-1772; d. 9-30-1777^[4]

Joseph died November 6, 1772 in Pasquotank, North Carolina. ^[4]^[5]. His estate was probated on October 31, 1772 in Pasquotank County, North Carolina.
