Biography

David A. Nicholson was born in 1832 in Pennsylvania, the son of John Nicholson and Harriet White. On November 5, 1854, he married Jacintha (Jacinth) E. Hanna.^[1] Their two oldest children, J. William and Anna, were born in Ohio, but the third was born in Illinois, and by 1860, the family was living in Payson, Adams County.^[2]

At that time, David's occupation was reported as "Carriage-maker," and in 1870 is described as "Harness."^[3] The 1880 census reports his occupation as "Stock broker" almost certainly a reference to buying and selling livestock.^[4] In 1900, he is described as a "stock buyer."^[5]

He passed away in 1912 at age eighty.^[6]
