James Nicholson was born in the Colony of South Australia (1836-1900)

James Phillis Nicholson was born on 10 Jun 1872, at Mount Pleasant, Talunga, SA. He is the son of James Nicholson and Charlotte Phillis. ^{[1] [2]}

James Phillis Nicholson (age 34, Single, son of James Nicholson) married Winifred Maynard Wilkinson (age 26, Single, daughter of James Wilkinson) on 5 Sep 1907, at the Methodist Church, Jamestown, Clare, SA. ^{[3] [4]} Their marriage was reported in the Evening Journal (Adelaide, SA : 1869 - 1912) Fri 27 Sep 1907 Page 1 Family Notices ^[5]

NICHOLSON—WILKINSON.—On the 5th September, at Methodist Church, Jamestown, the Rev. W. F. James, James Phillis, eldest son of the late James Nicholson, Jamestown, to Winifred Maynard, eldest surviving daughter of James Wilkinson, Jamestown. At home 2nd, 3rd, and 4th October.

In the Australia Electoral Rolls, 1939, James was listed as a "Cordialmkr", living at River View Road, Murray Bridge, SA, with his wife, Winifred Maynard Nicholson, and their daughter, Phillis Eleanor Nicholson. ^[6] Note that their son, Eldred Maynard Nicholson, labourer, was living close by, at Verdun Road, Murray Bridge.

In the Australia Electoral Rolls, 1943, James was listed as Retired, and living at 95 King William Road, Hyde Park, Boothby/Unley, SA, with his wife, Winifred Maynard Nicholson, and daughter, Phillis Eleanor Nicholson (ledger kpr), and (?relative) Christina Nicholson (artist). ^[7] Note that their son, Ronald Murray Nicholson (shop assistant) was living close by at 56a King William Road, Hyde Park.

He died on 27 Aug 1961, aged 89, at Springbank, Adelaide, SA. His death certificate listed his daughter, P E Letcher, as informant, and his residence as Goodwood Park. ^{[8] [9]} He was buried in Centennial Park Cemetery, Pasadena, Mitcham City, South Australia, Australia (Plot: East Area, Rose Bed C2, Position 50). ^[10]
