Funeral services for William Nickerson of Speer, 85, were held in the Cox Memorial Home Tuesday at 2 p.m. with Rev, Edward Heininger, pastor of the Speer Congregational church officiating. Interment was in the Lawn Ridge cemetery. Mrs. Edward Dreesen, accompanied by Patrick Collins, sang, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "The Lord's Prayer." Bearers were Lee Hoggatt, Ben Davis, Claude Fisher, Everett Roll, Thomas Davidson and John Davidson. Mr. Nickerson was the postmaster in Lawn Ridge and then in Speer when the offices were moved there over 30 years ago. He retired some years ago. He was a member of the Calumet Lodge No. 196, IOOF, in Chillicothe for 62 years. He had been a resident of Speer since 1914. He was born in Coeyman, Albany county, New York, July 20 1868, the son of John W. and Katherine Carr Nickerson. He was united to Olive Phillips November 12,1902. She preceded him in death June 19, 1935. He passed away in St. Francis hospital in Peoria, January 30, having been a patient there for seven days. He is survived by a daughter, Beulah at home; two nieces, Mrs. Charles Gaumer of Peoria Heights and Mrs. Grace Coil of Lawn Ridge; and one nephew, Roy Foster of Princeville
