He was born in Kösseln, near Löbejün (now part of Löbejün-Wettin), on April 5, 1710. He died in Magdeburg on June 30, 1778, and was buried at the Church of St. Ulrich on July 3.
In 1722, he entered St. Thomas Boarding School in Leipzig; on June 28, 1729, he was admitted to the University of Leipzig. There he received his bachelors' degree on December 12, 1733, as well as his PhD in art and literature [?] that same year; he received his masters' degree the following year.
[Note: I'm not strong on eighteenth-century German academics, especially ecclesial academics. So Otto's sequence of degrees, as given by the genealogist, look odd to me.]
In 1734, he was appointed afternoon preacher in Leipzig (St. Paul's Church); in 1739, subdeacon in Naumburg (St. Wenceslas Church); and 1742, deacon in Magdeburg (Church of St. Ulrich).
On October 23, 1747, he received his doctorate in theology at the University of Helmstedt; he was appointed pastor of the Church of St. Ulrich, Magdeburg, in 1759.
