The eldest child of James Nicoll and Sarah Jane Nicoll (nee Thompson). She just missed being recorded in the 1881 census and, confusingly, appears in 1891 with her grandparents James and Rachel H and aunt Rachel Brown Nicoll rather than with her mother who lived nearby. (Probably the family got fragmented with the premature death around late 1887 of her father James?)
The 1901 census is surprising as we find her at 61 Grove Street, Liverpool, aged 19 as head of household 'letting rooms'. There were 5 'boarders' and one servant, continuing the consistent retaining of servants in the Nicoll households. Her mother SJN lived nearby with her parents, the Thompsons, and the rest of her children.
Her life proved to be a short one, her death occurring in early 1908 age 26, still in Liverpool.
