Arbuthnot-4040 married Gibson-1204 who belonged to a. very duplicated family which has the mother as. Browne-4892 who is attached to this (or another) bracewell family. through her mother, Braswell-1170.

I think this whole thing has not yet been wrapped up and needs further attention - from someone brilliant.

I recently discovered via my wife's DNA testing ( that Barnaby Wells b 1740 is most probably her grgrgrgrgrandfather. We have been trying for 12 years to determine her line from her grgrandfather George W. Wells back and kept hitting a brick wall. However, her DNA showed that she matches with three descendents of Barnaby Wells (all in the 4th to 6th cousin range, but at least matches). We hope that this is sufficient proof that we are finally on the right branch of the Wells tree. Do you have much on that particular branch that might further prove we are right or that we are barking up the wrong tree?

Thanks for all you do.

Is your wife's George W. Wells middle name Washington?
posted by Hans Nielsen
We think it was Washington, but not sure. He was born about 1828 in Virginia. He was married about 1850 and had two children when his wife passed away. He remarried Lucy Jeffreys about 1861 in Culpeper, Virginia. About 1865 they moved to Weakley County, Tennessee and they had five more children. Because of the 1890 census problems we lose track of him, and are not sure where he lived when he passed away, but it probably was in the Poplar Bluff, Missouri area, because he had a daughter there, who was married in his home in the late 1880s.

From the DNA results for my wife (his greatgrandaughter), it appears that his Father was George W. Wells, who was the son of Barnaby Wells.

If you have a Gedmatch acct, check against # M487434 which is my mother. At Ancestry look up tree for cnnnlord. At 23andme, lookup Carol Lord. I had great difficulty piecing together my Wells line.

Hans, I think I have gotten the people added you wanted plus maybe more. See if that it is suitable.

Hans, I read with interest your query about your Spencer lines. From the information given I don't believe that our lines are the same although far enough back they could be. My Spencer line is quite direct from Bedfordshire, England to Haddam, Connecticut to West Stockbridge, Mass to Utah by way of Nauvoo and Winter Quarters.
