Thank you for adding your DNA Test information to your profile on WikiTree. Your information will be propagated to the profiles of your parents and your ancestors within about 24 hours of being added. It will also propagate to the profiles of the descendants of your ancestors, so they may see your information under the heading "DNA Connections" just as you can see theirs.
Getting started with DNA outlines how to proceed to use your DNA test information on WikiTree and DNA is a link to a collection of links about WikiTree's many features involving DNA.
The DNA Connections list on your profile will provide a visual way for you to find potential relatives on WikiTree who have also added their DNA test information. Using DNA tools at sites like GEDMatch.com, if you find a relative that matches your DNA sufficiently and you have genealogical sources for the intermediate relationships, you can mark the specific parental relationships back to the most recent ancestor that you both share as "confirmed with DNA." For details, guidance, and examples of how to properly document DNA confirmations, see DNA confirmation.
To find other potential relatives, continue adding sourced profiles for other lines until you can connect on all branches. The more branches you are able to add the greater the likelihood of finding potential cousins to match with. The process of identifying which branch elements of DNA relate to will better enable you to find matches that relate to the particular branches you are researching.
Have fun!

thanks for your message. The merge went well and I am hoping to fill in more info soon. I am getting bogged down with one particular ancestor who doesn't seem to match up as I expected. And, I think it may be possible that another ancestor had more than one spouse, so I am looking into that as well and of course, these ancestors are from Germany which makes it more difficult. Thanks again Tammi
This is a courtesy e-mail to see how things are going. Are you enjoying WikiTree so far? Have the tips in the New Member How-Tos been helpful? Were you able to get the merge completed and take of the Niewand profiles as planned?
Please do let me know if you have any questions about how WikiTree works, no matter how small. My rule of thumb when I started was to search for an answer for five minutes, then reach out to my Greeters, and then resume searching. I might have found the answer before they got back with me but they sometimes offered a different way of doing the same thing which was easier.
You can reach me by using the reply link for this comment or send a private message from my profile by clicking my name. See you in the branches,

P.S. Did you discover that the tags (names in green boxes) on your profile are clickable links to a page of other people who have that tag? They also control the information which is included in the activity reports which you receive from WikiTree. You can add more, up to 20 total, or delete some if you are receiving irrelevant information.
I hope it all goes through ok for you
Take care Karen
I am having trouble making the merge. I keep getting the following:
Error: Invalid data. The following must be corrected: Permission Denied When I look at this it is the following: He is the son of Heinrich Niewand and Olga Petering. <ref>A source for this information is needed.</ref> Do I need a Birth Certificate number? Tammi
I have had a look and one f them is an unlisted profile, so the other profile manager will need to approve the merge, if you do not hear from them within a week, I suggest that you send am email to [email address removed] and say that the other profile manager has not approved or rejected the match so can they complete the merge for you
With birth certificates you don't need to add the certificate number
I hope this helps, any problems please let me know
Take care Karen
I have been communicating with Don Western who is the manager and have been getting him to allow me on the trusted lists. He also asked if I would like to take over the Niewand tree and he is concentrating on the Western Tree, and I have agreed. Just have to work out how to do this.
thanks again for all your help. Tammi
I am here to help you whenever you need it, and I am sure you will do great work on your tree
Take care and have fun
Karen
I am pleased to confirm and welcome you to the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together.
I would suggest starting with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration.
I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site
Happy tree climbing

P.S. If links do not work in an email from WikiTree, try them from the comment section on your profile page.
I see that you have been working on your biography, thank you!
To be able to add names you will need to volunteer, you can do this from your Navigation page. Just add tags showing your genealogical interests e.g. surnames you are researching, in the comments box by them add the location/relationship to you, then click on the green box that says "Save tags and volunteer." We will then be able to confirm you as a member.
Volunteering just means you will work on your ancestors to help us achieve our goal of joining all individual family trees into one global family tree.
I hope this helps! If you have any problems, let me know.
Take care
