Name
"Night Walking Woman" is an attested name in the Bear Clan. The Hocąk is Hąhemąnįwįga, from hąhe, "night, darkness"; mąnį, "to walk, she walks"; -wį-, a feminine gender infix; and -ga, a definite article suffix used in personal names. Her name may also be translated, as Radin does, as "She Who Walks in Darkness." (Radin)
