Elling Nilsen Saure was baptized on 24 Jul 1737 in Hjørundfjord, the son of Nils Johansen and Brite Ellingsdatter.[1]
Elling married Anne Karsteinsdatter Sundal, from Volda, on 30 Jun 1755 in Hjørundfjord.[2] Their children were:
- Brit Ellingsdatter, baptized 28 Oct 1759
- Ole Ellingsen, baptized 1 Jan 1763 (died young)
- Oline Ellingsdatter, baptized 22 Jul 1764
- Nils Ellingsen, baptized 5 Mar 1767 (died young)
- Alet Ellingsdatter, baptized 17 Jul 1768 (died young)
- Eli Ellingsdatter, baptized 21 Jan 1770
In 1762 Elling was listed with his wife Anne at Søvre in Hjørundfjord.[3] His parents Nils and Brit were also listed with them.
Elling was one of the 27 people who drowned on 1 Jan 1770, when 3 boats on the way to church were overturned.[4] His age given on his burial record was 33 1/2.
His probate was dated 24 Apr 1770.[5] Named in the probate were his widow Anne Carstensdatter and three children:
- Birthe Ellingsdatter, age 10
- Olena Ellingsdatter, age 6
- Eli Ellingsdatter, age 14 [sic]
