William (Bill) Nimsgern was born November 3, 1949 in Waukegan, Illinois, the son of Robert and Hazel Peters Nimsgern.

He was educated in Waukegan and graduated with honors from Waukegan High School in 1967. Bill attended North Park College in Chicago with a major in history and received his BA degree in 1971. He also obtained a master's degree in history from the University of Illinois in 1972.

Bill was an Inland Marine Underwriter for the Kemper Insurance Group from 1972-1983. He was subsequently a Commercial Underwriter for Zurich Insurance from 1983-2008.

He married Mary Jones July 19, 1975 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Crystal Lake, Illinois. He was a member of both the Atlanta Civil War Roundtable and the Cobb County Civil War Roundtable groups.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Mary, cousins, and many friends. Funeral service was held at St. James, with interment at St. James' Cemetery in Marietta, GA. Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta handled the arrangements.
