James was born 12 Sep 1802 and baptized 19 Sep 1802 North Berwick.[1] He is the son of John Nisbet and Janet Runciman. He passed away between the 1841 and 1851 Census.
He was an innkeeper in Haddington and his wife took over after his death.
He married Catherine Ewart[2] [3]
NOTICE.
A PETITION having been presented under The Presumption of life Limitation Scotland Act 1881, to the Sheriff of the Lothians at the instance of John Nisbet, eldest son of the late James Nisbet, innkeeper, Haddington, who was the immediate younger brother of Benjamin Nisbet formerly Wright in Musselburgh, thereafter in New Zealand, son of John Nisbet late tidewaiter at Fisherrow for authority to make up a TITLE to property in Aberlady, in the County of Haddington, in the said Petitioner’s name, as heir at law of the said Benjamin Nisbet the Sheriff substitute at Haddington a notice that they intend to oppose the prayer of the petition being granted,
