Walter Percival Nisbett was born in 1895 in Ipswich, Queensland (Australia). He was the eldest child of William Nisbett and Edith Jones. [1]
In February 1906, ten year-old Walter was called to testify at a coroner's inquest into the drowning of Walter's mate, James Charlton in the Bremer River at Woodend, Ipswich. Although Walter had initially tried to assist James when he got into difficulties, after James drowned he lied, fearing he would be blamed for the death. What a traumatic experience for a Boy so young.[2]
Walter married Irene Barron on 18th October 1922 in Brisbane, Queensland. [3]
Aged 73 years, Walter passed away in 21st May 1969 in Brisbane. [4] His ashes are interred at Mount Thompson Memorial Gardens, Holland Park, Queensland.
