Gib Nix is a part of US Black heritage.
Gib was born before 1859.
He was listed as a boy in the "Inventory and Appraisement of the Estate of Edward Nix Nov 18th 59." His appraised value was $1100.[1]
Before the final settlement of Edward Nix's estate, Gib was hired out to G.A. Estes for a fee of $18.00 as found recorded in the Probate Returns for the Nix estate on 2 June 1860 (p 150).[2]
When the estate was finally settled, Gib was sold to Berry Gay for $1350.[3] Littleberry "Berry" Gay was the husband of Edward Nix's daughter, Mary.
