Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

Hi Marion, and welcome to WikiTree! You mentioned your ancestors in Scotland. I wanted to let you know we have a great project that focuses on Scottish Clans here called Scottish Clans Project It would be a great place for you to get involved once you have settled into WikiTree.

You may find some of your ancestors are already on WikiTree and the people in the Scottish Clan Project will be happy to help you in any way they can. The site you want for BMD and census info for Scotland is http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/

Please drop into our friendly Genealogist to Genealogist (G2G) forum to introduce yourself to other WikiTreers - you can access the G2G by selecting G2G Profile from your My WikiTree menu at the top right of most pages.

WikiTree can be a bit overwhelming at first, so don't hesitate to post your questions in the G2G.

Hi, I'm interested in tracing my Hyslop/Alexander ancestry in Ayrshire and will be happy to co-operate with anyone who has similar interests. My main motivation is to leave a record for my descendants. Sometimes I'm away from the computer for a few days, but I will always answer an email eventually.
