Later that year, Virginia married Isaac Alford. They were married on 10 October 1860 in Floyd, County, Virginia. [3] Virginia and Isaac Alford had six children together:
Between 1860 and 1870, the Virginia Alford gave birth to three of their six children. Sometime after the birth of their son James in 1869, the family moved to Reeve Township, Indiana, where Isaac worked as a farmer. The 1870 United States Census lists the following members of the Alford household:
