John was placed in the Home of the Guardian Angel along with his sister(my mother) on July 6, 1914. He was adopted Aug. 28, 1915 by Mr. and Mrs. Neil McNeil of North Sydney. They later moved to the Pictou area of Nova Scotia.

John may have run away after Mr. McNeil's death and ended up in London, Ont., where he changed his name to Gerry Brown. This last bit of information has not been documented yet.
