Biography

Hugh was born in 1835, the son of Hugh Nixon.
On 7 October 1864, he married Jane Brownlee, the daughter of John, in Enniskillen.
Hugh's wife Jane was listed as Methodist in 1911.
He passed away in 1900.
Hugh's Will was probated on 26 April 1901 in Armagh. "Probate of the Will of Hugh Nixon, late of Cornahowla, County Fermanagh, farmer who died 4 July 1900, granted at Armagh to William Johnston, farmer, effects 426L 15s."

Research Notes

Hugh had a son whom he named George Cathcart Nixon, so there is a good chance that Hugh's mother, paternal GM, etc., was surnamed Cathcart. There were Cathcart families in Ireland, including in County Fermanagh. For example, there was a John Cathcart born 1800 in Enniskillen, per War Office Registers.

Hugh died in 1900... his wife is in the 1911 census, but I can't seem to find her, or their sons, Henry, Alexander, or George in 1901, either...
Can't find any of the 4 in England or Canada, either.

Possible brother & nephew... theory based on combination of names Hugh and Alexander, and location in Enniskillen, Fermanagh:
Alexander Nixon (1834-1915), father of Hugh Nixon (1878-1905).

Possible brother - John Nixon (1842-1931), who had sons named Robert Hugh Nixon and James Alexander Nixon... and was buried in Rossorry Churchyard in Enniskillen.
