Andrew Jackson NIXON (parents Francis Marion NIXON and Catherine ELLIOTT) was born 4 JUL 1813 in TN, though some sources have him born in MO. He died 1887 in AR. He was a small man, weighing about 130 pounds, with light curly hair and blue eyes. He was a primitive baptist minister, farmer and wheelright. He made spinning wheels to sell to the Cherokee Indians in Oklahoma. He was a very good friend to the Indians and was the doctor in the vicinity in which he lived..." 
In 1831 he moved to Missouri with John Coffee Nixon and in 1835 moved to Franklin Co., Arkansas. In 1840 he lived in Franklin Co. Arkansas. A farmer and wheelwright, he made spinning wheels and traded them to the Indians. In 1856 he and his family, accompanied by the Light, Ratto, and New families, set out in a wagon train for California. Lack of water for their stock on the Texas plains forced them to halt. Turning South to Mason and Gillespie counties, TX, the family established Nixon Point, a peak on the Beaver Creek, as a landmark in October, 1856. Taking refuge from the Indians in old forts in Mason and Menard counties, they were able to keep alive and maintain their small herd of cattle. In 1866 he settled on Squaw Creek, Llano County, Texas with three sons, Andrew Jackson, Jr. , James G., and Thomas Nixon.
Andrew was born in 1813 or 1814. He passed away after 1856. There is a biography in the LDS Church microfilm about Frances Marion NIXON b. SCOTLAND who lost his parents during Revolutionary War. He married an English girl and settled in Missouri and raised a large family. They later moved to Arkansas with their family and that is where he died at the age of 105. Andrew Jackson NIXON was one of their middle children, b. 4 Jul 1813 in Missouri. He married Lurana WOOTTEN in Morgan Co, MO on 23 Dec 1832. They lived there until 1835 then moved to Franklin Co,Arkansas. They lived there until 1856 then moved to Nixon Point, Mason Co, TX October. Because of Indian troubles they then moved to Gillespie Co, TX where some descendants still live. Andrew Jackson NIXON died in Arkansas in 1878 while visiting his brothers. The Nixons lived in Missouri until their second child was born and then they moved to Franklin County, Arkansas. They moved to Texas in 1856. He made spinning wheels & sold to Cherokee and was known to be a very good friend to the Cherokees. He was also the only doctor in his area and his occupations were Baptist Minister, farmer, wheelwright. He had cury brown hair, blue eyes. 
He passed away in 1887 and is buried in the Squaw Creek Cemetery in Gillespie County, Texas.
