Biography

Rachel Noble was named as one of two unmarried daughters in the will of her father Samuel Noble, dated 26th December 1776 in Carteret County, North Carolina.

She appears to be the same Rachel Gibson who became the widow of Isaac Gibson in 1790, by the will his widow Rachel made, dated 13th August 1791, naming numerous "cousins" who would have been her nieces and a nephew. She bequeathed the land bequeathed to her by the will of her father, Samuel Noble, to one of these.[1][2]

Research Notes

Rachel Nobel has been conflated with her same-named aunt Rachel Noble, widow of William Houston (That fact is made clear in Samuel Noble's 1776 will, the transcriptions of that are horrible so I've uploaded it).
This Rachel Noble, was named as an unmarried daughter (one of two) in the will of her father, Samuel Noble, dated 26 December 1776 (see those images)....likely born about 1760.
She appears to have been the second wife, then widow, of Isaac Gibson, who died in Onslow County in 1790. Her own will was dated 13th August 1791. She only "definitively" named his youngest son Shadrach Gibson, as her child, leaving numerous small bequests to "cousins" (nieces and nephews).

Transcribed will of Rachel Gibson.
