I started doing family research in 1987, when my dad said to me. What are you doing on your next vacation? I said I don't think I was going anywhere, because my wife had to work. He then said he would like to take me to Southern Illinois & show me some things. He showed me old homesteads and family cemeteries. The next thing I know I'm in the county courthouse looking up old records. That was the way you had to do it back then. It's been a fun ride. I still like looking at old records. I think the best time is when I find the land that they lived on.

John you created several duplicate profiles yesterday. Please review the suggested names which show up on the screen before creating duplicates. The duplicates you created had the same name, birth and death dates and places.

My name is David R. White. I was born David Richard Bohannon, to William Jethro Bohannon and Kathryn Fendley Bohannon on Jan. 23, 1948 in Gordo, AL. I never knew my father, I have no photos of him. He was in the Merchant Marines during the war, and met my mother in New Orleans, LA. My mother remarried in 1955 to William K. White, who adopted me and I had legal name change. My uncle, Hewlett Fendley, also in the Merchant Marines, reported to my father. After I was born, my mother lost all communications with William Jethro Bohannon, until my uncle discovered his death in San Diego, CA. If a photo of William Jethro Bohannon exists, I would appreciate getting a copy.

Hello John

I just came across this while googling an uncle. I am Israel Putnam Baynes great grandson. I’m not quite sure how this works but Louis Merrill Bayne was my grandfather and I could fill in most of what comes after him. It looks like you have done an enormous amount of research and I found it very interesting. Rod Stewart

John,

Thank you for your 29 contributions to the November Sourcerers Challenge! As you know, every source added to an unsourced profile improves our One Tree. Thank you for taking time from your own family history to help others.

I just discovered the profile you added for Etta Henley when I was adding one for Etta Hendley. They are within a year or two of age and both were married to men named Charlie Reynolds. After a lot of effort, I determined for sure that these two couples, with same names (even Etta's maiden name) are different. I added a source, along with a deconflation warning, to "your" Etta and want to let you know because you won't see any notice since you are no longer manager. I see that Etta shares a small amount of DNA with you.
Congratulations John

Hi John,

Thought I would see if you have collected any other information on John Bearden. Another cousin & I are still looking for the record or source showing his middle name as William.
