Biography

Birth & Upbringing: Eliza was born in 1856. [1] She was the daughter of William and Eliza Nolan.
Own Family: She married Henry Field at a ceremony at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Pietermaritzburg, South Africa on 22 May 1884 [1] and together they had six children.
Migrations: Eliza Nolan migrated to South Africa, but evidence of departure from either Ireland or the United Kingdom is not clear. There is a record of a Miss Nolan arriving at Cape Town on 31 August 1881 aboard the Durban RMS (departed Plymouth 12 August and achieved the trip in the second fastest time port to port). The record cannot be confirmed as being Eliza. Following their stay in South Africa, Henry and Eliza returned to England, then went to Ireland and after that migrated to settle in Canada in 1888 where the couple, with their three children settled in Montreal.
Occupation: Servant [1]
Known Residences: Pietermaritzburg, Natal pre 1910; Cork, County Cork, Ireland. Hochelaga, St. Henri, Montreal, Quebec; [2] [3]
Demise: She passed away in 1915.
Burial: Eliza Field was buried at Notre-Dame-Des-Neige Cemetery, Quebec.
