Biography

See affidavit in the matter of the estate of Julia Nolan, deceased, sworn by her niece Margaret Waldron on 17 Nov 1924, ignoring children who had died before the affidavit was sworn:

14. The said Catherine Nolan daughter of William Nolan the Elder and John [sic] Buckley was born about the year 1812. I am unable to trace any record of said birth. She was married once and once only to William Costelloe [sic] of Trieneragh, Duagh in the County of Kerry about the year 1835.
15. There were issue of the said marriage two lawful children and no more Thomas and Johanna. The said Thomas was born about the year 1836. I am unable to trace any record of his birth. He died at Trieneragh aforesaid on the 5th August 1914. I refer to certificate of his death on which marked with the letter "N" I have signed my name name [sic] before swearing this affidavit. The said Johanna Costelloe daughter of Catherine Nolan and William Costelloe was born about the 27th May 1849. I refer to certificate of Baptism on which marked with the letter "O" I have signed my name before swearing this affidavit and I say that the Johanna Costelloe therein named is the same person as Johanna Costelloe daughter of Catherine Nolan and William Costelloe. She was married to Timothy Dillon of Knockaneoun, Listowel who predeceased her. She is still living at Knockaneoun aforesaid.

The pedigree affidavit cited above says Catherine was born Abt 1812; the death certificate cited below implies that she was born 1811/1812; however, it is possible that she is the same as the child christened Maria on 7 Aug 1815 (#133) with godparents Joannus Studd and Ellena Joye.^[1]
