  • FATAL OCCURRENCE AT DUNMORE.-An old and much respected resident of Dunmore, Thomas Nolan, farmer, met with a violent death on Thursday afternoon. The deceased who was sixty years of age, had been into Maitland with his horse and dray, and returned at half-past twelve o'clock. His daughter,

who was engaged in the kitchen at her parents' residence, heard a noise, and on running out to see what was the matter, observed her father seated on a dray which contained some loading. The horse was jumping about, and presently Mr. Nolan was either jerked or fell off the vehicle, the wheel of which passed over his body. Assistance was summoned, and the injured man was removed to his house, and placed in bed. A messenger proceeded to Maitland for Dr. Power, who started for Dunmore, but was met on the way by a son of the deceased who said that his father had expired. An inquest was held before the Coroner, Mr. A. Vindin, at the residence of the deceased yesterday morning. Dr. Power, who made a careful examination of the body, found that the spine had been fractured in the region of the kidneys, which, with other injuries, he said, caused death. The jury found that the deceased was accidentally killed.
