R Noland, son of Lewis Noland, was born about 1839.[1]
Riley Wilburn Noland, born 10 July 1838, was the son of Lewis and Nancy (Stevenson) Noland, who were married 18 August 1836.[2]
RW Noland married Jane Lusk in Haywood County, North Carolina (license issued 22 April 1857).[3]
They had at least three children - Jesse (born about 1858), Sary (born in late 1859),[4] and Wiley (born about 1883).[5]

The 1860 census for 37th Division of Haywood County, North Carolina shows his family in the household before NP and Matilda Rogers' household.[4]

Research Notes
Note on his FindAGrave memorial (which erroneously fills in "R" with "Robert"):
"note: although the stone indicates name as Wilburn Robert Noland ["Wilburn R."], all other listings and childrens grave markers and records show his name as Robert Wilburn Noland."[7]
Considering the note changes Wilburn R. to Wilburn Robert, I would also doubt that other grave markers have Robert.
J. Lynn Noland, in Milesian Mountaineers, calls him "Riley Wilburn Noland"[2]
