Biography

Mack Noland was born 9 April 1891 and died on 10 April 1920. He is buried in the Tudor Cemetery, Tudor Hollow, Sevier County, Tennessee.[1]

Research Notes

"Marcus Levi" has no support, nor does "Mark". The Find a Grave memorial for a son of Peter & Margaret with the same dates as this profile calls him "Mack Leander Noland". From what I can make out on the tombstone, "Mack" is supported. There might also be an "L". It appears that the rest refers to his parents (I can make out a "ret" clearly... "Margret" less certainly).[1] FamilySearch also calls him Mack Leander Noland.[2]

At the time of the 1900 census, the family was living in the household of Jefferson Noland in Sevier County, Tennessee. Jefferson was the son of Peter and Margaret Noland. There was no Mark or Marcus listed; Mack, Jefferson's brother, is listed - as 12, born in December 1887 in Tennessee. The family moved from North Carolina after the birth of Mack's next older sibling (Fannie, born November 1885 in North Carolina) and before Mack was born.[3]

The 1920 census finds Peter L. Noland (71) once again head of household, with his wife Margaret V (65), his children Mack (27) and Belle (25), and nephews Charlie B. Noland (19) and Willie H. Clark (12). Peter and Margaret were born in North Carolina; the younger members of the household were all born in Tennessee.[4]

Death Date/Birth Date: Find a Grave says 10 April 1920,[1] as does FamilySearch.[2] The VA says 11 April 1920. However, the VA record also has his birth as 14 April 1891[5] instead of 9 April 1891.[1][2] His draft registration card has 9 April 1891.[6]
