Discussion of 1880 Census

1.TJ is BJ (Benjamins James) self he lists his birth as South Carolina
2. This is the census that shows Mary as three years older than her husband. I have also seen where Benjamin and Mary are listed as born in 1832
3. Marsha is a sister to my Mary, who has already married John J. Shirley
4. The others are their children until you get to Elizabeth Rosser.
5. Elizabeth Rosser is Benjamin's Mother. Elizabeth began life as Elizabeth Tierce (daughter of George William and Eleanor (Gaines) Tierce). Elizabeth married William Norman. I am not sure what happened w/ William, I think he passed away.
6. The Rossers had been in South Carolina as Elizabeth's grandmother had. Benjamin Rosser's first wife, Elizabeth, passed away. Benjamin passed away and Elizabeth is living in her son household.
7.Benjamin and Mary's son Benjamin J ll died on Oct 17th, 1929. The Death Certificate shows his father as Ben J. Norman and Mother as Mary Hamner that he was born in Tuscaloosa Al.[4]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:
