Biography

A notable woman's rights activist mentioned in several history books, Jane was the Senatorial District Chairman of the Women's Political Union for Woman Suffrage, 1914-1915; Manhattanville Nursery Association, Secretary, 1910s; member of the New York City Committee, Congressional Union for Woman Suffrage, 1915; New York Legislative Campaign, National Women's Party, woman suffrage campaign, 1916-1918; New York State Legislative Chairman, National Women's Party, Equal Rights campaign, 1921-23; Chairman, New York State branch, National Woman's Party, 1923-1927; Chairman, National Council, National Woman's Party, 1927-1929; Third Vice-President, National Council of Women, 1935-1937; Second Vice-President, National Council of Women, 1937-1938; She was appointed by Governor Alfred E. Smith to represent the State of New York at the Congress of the International Woman Suffrage Alliance in Paris, France in 1926, and was also speaker on behalf of Equal Rights Treaty before a plenary session of the Pan American Conference in Havana, Cuba in 1928. She was the author of articles on the Equal Rights Amendment to the Federal Constitution. Her articles on the status of women appeared in magazines and newspapers in both North and South America.
