John Norris was born in Tetbury, Gloucestershire, England in 1617. ^[1] He was the son of the Reverend Edward Norris II (1579-1659) and Elinor (1584-?). ^[1] He emigrated with his family to Salem, Massachusetts in 1635 with his father's church group of which his father was the pastor. ^[1] John and his unnamed wife had at least five children: ^[1]
