Death of Mr. M. A. North[1]
On Thursday night one of the earliest pioneers of Maclean passed away in the person of Mr. Mildred A. North. The deceased gentleman was 70 years of age, and settled in Maclean 35 years ago, commencing business as a blacksmith. The business was first in Maclean and has been continued by Mr. North's family. At the time that Mr. North came to Maclean there were but two or three other residents in the town, which was then in its infancy, but it quickly increased in population and business as the farm lands were taken up. Mr. North had been in a weak state of health for some time and his death was not unexpected. He leaves a widow and a family of seven sons and three daughters. His remains wore Interred in the Weslean cemetery on Saturday afternoon. The funeral, which was conducted by Mr. Dugald Macdonald, was a large one. The Revs. D, Mclnnes and T. Scott Neil officiated at the grave,
