Biography

Rhoda Northcutt was born about 1761 or 1766 in Virginia. [1] [2]

Rhoda married Barnabus Haley, and they were the parents of at least 4 sons, John, Coleman, William and Turpin. [3] They lived in Grainger County, Tennessee, where the first 3 sons were born, [4] and lived in Rockcastle County, Kentucky by 1810. [5] Youngest son Turpin was born there, and they can be found in Rockcastle County in 1820, [6] 1840, [7] and 1850. [1] They are probably living in the household of son John Haley in 1830. [8]

Barnabus was a farmer when he and Rhoda appeared on the 1850 census for Rockcastle County, Kentucky. He was age 91 and she was 84. [1]

Rhoda died on 16 Aug 1854 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky and was buried at Scaffold Cane Cemetery, Roundstone, Rockcastle County, Kentucky. [2] [9] [10]

I've connected Rhoda to her brother Francis Northcutt via an existing orphaned profile for his father after finding they were in fact siblings. The 1834 documentation of where Francis' sister Rhoda and Barnabus Haley were residing in Rockcastle, Kentucky, as well as a supporting affidavit from their son John Haley, is contained in Francis' Rev Vet pension file. The father's orphaned profile was named Nathaniel (with no sources) so it now has an brief explanation and has been changed to unknown.
