John DeWolf Northrop was born on 5 Nov. 1886 at Troupsburg, Steuben Co., New York.[1][2] He appeared on the census of 1 June 1900 in the household of his parents, Clement Dessault Northrop and Naoma (Weeks) Northrop, at, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.[3] He witnessed the marriage of his twin brother, George Spencer Northrop and Bertha McCaul on 17 Oct. 1908 at Watkins, Schuyler County, New York.[4] He was educated in 1912 at Syracuse University, Syracuse, Onondaga Co., New York. He was employed by Department of the Interior, Geology Division in 1912. [2]
He married Mary Annie Mayo, daughter of Herbert Mayo and Fanny (Beesely) Mayo, on 18 Sep. 1912 at Stowe, Lamoille County, Vermont. [5][2]
He and Annie appeared on the census of 20 June 1920 at Cheyenne, Laramie Co., Wyoming.[6] He was Geologist, U. S. Government when he and Annie appeared on the census of 4 April 1930 at 3937 Legation St., Washington, Washington Co., District Of Columbia.[7] He was a geologist for the Department of the Interior when he and Annie appeared on the census of 28 April 1940 at Washington, District of Columbia.[8] He lived in 1950 at Washington, District of Columbia, District of Columbia.[2]
John has a memorial stone shared with family members at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Pleasant Valley Rd., Farmington Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.[10] It is most likely that he is not buried there.
