Biography

Moses Northrup was born on March 31, 1695, in Milford, Connecticut to Joseph Northrup, 45 and Miriam Blakeman, 25. He married Abigail Cornell/Cornwall, daughter of John Cornwall, in 1721 in his hometown. His name, along with other settlers, appears on several land purchase transactions with local Indians, near Ridgefield, CT in the 1720's.

About 1734 he moved to Dutchess County (now Putnam Co.)., New York (Beekman's Ferry). Early on, his residence is often given as " Wostershire, in the Province of New York, Worcester, in the Province of New York or Worstershire, Dutchess Co., New York." In his will (filed with Clerk of the Court of Appeals, Albany, NY) he refers to himself as "of Beekman's Ferry in Dutchess County in the province of New York, Yeomen."[1]

He owned several slaves, who were passed to family members in his Will. He died on July 1, 1747, in Beekman, New York, at the age of 52.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Moses by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Moses:

Merge note: correct spelling is "Northrup" for this generation. So Northrup-338 should be merged into Northrup-367 (and not the other way around, as proposed)
Note for merge: I believe the correct surname spelling is "Northrup" per the records I've seen for this generation of the family.
Northrop-338 and Northrup-367 appear to represent the same person because: duplicates with spelling mistakes
