Jonathan Northrup was born in February 1796 in Peacham, Caledonia County, Vermont,[1] the son of Lemuel & Lois (Woodward) Northrup. He first married in Danville, Caledonia, on 26 November 1818 Nancy Huse.[2] She died 02 May 1849, and he then married as his second wife, Lydia (Beede) Chamberlain, the widow of Ralph Chamberlain. This marriage took place in Danville on 20 October 1849.[3][4] On 01 April 1874 in Danville, he was killed in a railroad accident[5]
