Biography
Per the 1880 Census, Major was a grocer, and lived in Fairmount, Indiana Per, Centennial History of Grant County, Indiana, 1812 to 1912 ..., Volume 2 In 1850, Major B. V. Norton arrived in America, to join his father, who arrived in 1848. Major Norton and family endured a stormy passage during which they were ship wrecked on the Azores Islands and had to stay there for several months.
