Research Notes
Doubt has been placed as to the parents of this John Norton, Sr. of Maryland. Eleanor (Stonestreet?) Norton b. 1738 could not possible be the mother of John born about 1740. I am noting the parents as "uncertain" and hopefully locate documents in MD with more research. See the notes on geni.com by longtime Norton researcher Valerie Simonton on this relationship. DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
I'm curious as to what led to this connection. None of the records that I have seen for Alexander refer to John or suggest that there was another son of Alexander and his first wife.
