Biography

Rebecca was born about 1795 in Buncombe County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Nicholas Norton and Sarah McKnight.

About 1813, she married James Kuykendall in North Carolina. He was listed as being born about 1790 and she about 1797 with both being born in North Carolina. ^[1]

She passed away about 1866 in Alma, Crawford County, Arkansas. Rebecca is believed to have been laid to rest in Byers Cemetery, Crawford County, Arkansas, United States. ^[2]

Following are linked on Find A Grave: Memorial #68053173 as parents, but no sources found. David Amos Norton (1771-) and Sarah (Shelton) Norton (abt.1767-1872).

There are two Rebecca Norton's with different parents that are attached to James Kuykendall. I am actively researching to figure out which Rebecca Norton was married to him. For now, they have the same sources until I can find more sources proving or disproving their relationships apart from their parents and birth location.

Based on information found I believe she is the daughter of Nicholas Norton and Sarah McKnight not David Amos Norton (1771-) and Sarah (Shelton) Norton (abt.1767-1872) even though she is linked to them via findagrave. The person that created Rebecca Norton that was attached to David Amos Norton (1771-) and Sarah (Shelton) Norton (abt.1767-1872) stated that someone else linked her to these parents.

James Kuykendall is in Buncombe County, North Carolina at the time of his marriage to Rebecca Norton and is there on the 1820 census. Nicholas Norton resided in Buncombe County, North Carolina and David Norton was in Madison County, North Carolina.
