Flo was born in 1899 to Jim Norton and Laura Dickman in Hammond, Minnesota.
She was the oldest of ten siblings. When her mother passed away in 1926 due to pneumonia, daughters Flo and Kate took charge of raising their siblings. In many ways, Aunt Bo played her mother's role ever after by sending birthday cards to all her nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, etc.
By 1930, Flo was a servant for the Rufus Rand family in Wayzata, located near Minneapolis. Rufus was the president of an engineering company.
By 1940, Flo was a servant for the Louis Edelman family in Los Angeles. Louis was a motion picture producer. Later, Flo worked as an aide at St. John's Hospital.
In 1948, her father moved to Santa Monica where she cared for him. When he died in 1956, she shipped his body by rail to be buried next to his long-deceased wife. Flo passed away in 1992.
